Alex Kingi was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. As a tall and lanky kid, growing up playing basketball was not at all unusual. Yet, while "tall" and "skinny" fits right into the game of basketball, it doesn't fit at all into the clothes available for young men.
Finding the right fit in clothes wasn't always a problem. "For a long time I did the 'baggy clothes' thing, which was great because nothing fit right anyway. But eventually, just as I grew out of my desire to play basketball, I grew out of wearing baggy clothes." The problem was that there was very little to replace them.
As he started exploring other sports such as Surfing, Capoeira, and Rock Climbing, Alex developed an interest in a more functional and durable wardrobe. He discovered that the combination of practicality and style were what he was after. "If you have a good looking shirt that you can wear out to a nice lunch and then go exercise in it with out worrying about it falling apart, well that's the best."
Alex grew up in a family in which travel was simply business as usual. "As we traveled throughout Asia, to places such as Thailand, India, and Japan, I became partial to the detail and lines of Asian design." After high school Alex spent one year in a junior college in Switzerland. His taste in style became further refined to include the classic sleek European look. The more refined his taste became and the taller he grew, the more difficult it became to find clothes that fit just right.
One day as Alex (now 6'3") and his brother Dorian Kingi (6'5") were shopping, Alex was once again grumbling about that utter lack of clothes that fit tall thin guys, Dorian responded, "Why don't you stop complaining and start your own clothing company?" "Fine, I will!" Thus, in 2008 Thin Lojic, an eco-fashion clothing company was born.
